As most of us have been spending more time at home over the past year due to the restrictions of a global pandemic, pets have increasingly become a source of companionship and company.  Behavioral trends like this provide opportunities for an investor who can identify the beneficiaries and invest accordingly.  Puppies and kittens need medical care, nutritional food, and training, all of which requirements are met by companies that have stepped up to meet the increased demand.  As this article notes, β€œthe pet industry can count on years of consumer spending on food, bedding, toys, and other essentials.”  As we identify these companies, there are potential candidates that have not yet fully priced in future cash flows resulting from our influx of new furry companions.
